My $1000 A Month Challenge – Day 6 update

September 19th, 2009 • UncategorizedNo Comments »

Hi everyone,

here’s a quick update for today. Nothing really happening yet with my search engine rankings. I’m on the 5th page for keyword that’s getting about 1000 searches and on 9th position for one getting about 200 searches that got me my first search engine visitor.

Anyway I continue to build links. Today I created 3 pages on my website and bookmarked them to 6 social bookmarking sites. I also built 30 links from web 2.0 sites and bookmarked each web 2.0 property to 6 sites too.  I’m still not happy with my efforts. I know I can build more links. Tomorrow I will try some other link building methods.

My goal is to improve each day and today I did a better job done yesterday but still I wasted some time I could’ve been working. I didn’t do “a perfect day” of work as I strive for. Anyway I wrote done a more detailed step by step action plan for tomorrow so hopefully I’ll get more work done than today. The thing is not to waste any time. I try to ignore all distractions as tv, email, forums, blogs and everything.. The more focused I am the sooner I’ll reach my goal. So that’s about it for today. I’ll post an update tomorrow.

Bye and good luck with your endevours!

My $1000 Per Month – 30 day Challenge Day 5 Update

September 18th, 2009 • Mindset, My $1000 ChallengeNo Comments »

Hi everyone,

First of all sorry for taking me so long to post, here’s a quick update on my progress:

for the past 4 days I’ve been building links to my site patiently about 30 links a day, leveraging mostly social bookmarking and web 2.0 blog hosting sites.  Results so far are very limited: My site’s been indexed by google, I’d got about 20 visitors from referring websites and I got my first visitor from the search engines. It’s for a long tail keyword and I just checked I am ranking #9 for it on google.  Anyway, I know it takes time for links to get indexed and affect my rankings so I just need to continue building links patiently. I had troubles with my internet connection for some time and I really didn’t do as much work as I wanted.  I’d say I’ve build about 150-200 links so far but I’m not satisfied with that.

I must admit I was not working as hard as I could and should have. I wasn’t acting as ruthlessly as I can. I was doing little work and not updating the blog so far.  But I realize my mistakes, I realize with each day the odds of me succeeding in time get lower and lower and I realize I need to step it up a notch and work extra hard in the remaining of my challenge. I believe I still have a chance to make it. Although a slim one, still a chance.

From now on I will be updating this blog everyday with my efforts and my results. And I will be honest. As you see when I struggle and not doing well I’m telling you just that. When I get good results I’ll be telling you that! Until now I wasn’t really focused on the right things!

I wasted so much time thinking: what if this doesn’t work? will I fail miserably?:) what if this method of link building doesn’t help with the SE at all and I’m just wasting my time, am I targeting the right keywords.. etc.

And I realize I could’ve done a ton more work done in that time. I was overthinking things. I can’t know for sure if my keywords are good, I have to rank for them to see..

So now I’m just focused on getting work done! I know that consistently building links will eventually pay off and I’ll rank for them even though it seems like nothing’s happening right now. It’s just a numbers game. Numbers don’t lie and I need to trust them. If I build more link value to my pages than than my competitors I WILL outrank them. It’s certain! There’s no question about it.  So there’s no point in overthinking and worrying over things so much. I just need to be working!

So my main focus from now on is :  Just getting as much work done as possible! That’s the only thing in my control. I will do my best each day and results will follow..

Tomorrow will be a massive link building day. I will post an update in the evening.  From now on I will measure how am I doing not by what results I’m getting but by how much work I’ve done during the day. If I’ve had a good solid day of work then I’m happy. I don’t care if I get no results yet. I know I’ve done my part..  and will get results.

So that’s all for today. Have a good day and good luck with your projects!

till tomorrow!

My $1000 Per Month – 30 day Challenge Day 1 (Recap)

September 13th, 2009 • Affiliate Marketing, Mindset, My $1000 Challenge, Personal, SEONo Comments »

So here’s what I’ve done today:

I’ve social bookmarked my site to 7 of the top social bookmarking sites.

I set up accounts and web pages on 15 web 2.0 properties with unique quality relevant content and in content links with my main keyword as an anchor text on most of them. To make it more natural I’ve varied the anchor texts a bit. I’ve also used links like “click here to go visit my website” or just used my domain url as a link..

I then pinged and social bookmarked each new page to 7 sites.

And finally I submitted 1 article to ezinearticles.com

That’s all I have done today. I’m not very happy with it.  I mean I like the work I did but not the volume..

Especially after reading some of your responses I feel like I haven’t worked hard enough today.  I know I can get more done and tomorrow I will definitely be working harder!

The plan for tomorrow is to build links on much more websites and also create a few more pages on my website and do on-page SEO on them.

I hope my site gets indexed soon.

The way I use web 2.0 sites is

I create a site like this mymainkeyword.edublogs.org for example. Create a post with my Main Keyword in the title.  The post will be relevant to my keyword and put 2 in-content links with my main keyword or some variation of it as anchor text. 1 of the links goes to my website and the other 1 goes to the previous web 2.0 property I’ve used for example hubpages.com/hub/mykeywordphrase . We’ll see if that’s effective..

So that’s all for now.

Thanks for all your support and advice!  See you tomorrow..

My $1000 Monthly – 30 day Challenge Day 1 (The Beginning)

September 13th, 2009 • Affiliate Marketing, Mindset, My $1000 Challenge, Personal, SEONo Comments »

Hey everyone,

in my previous post I talked about setting SMART goals. I defined my goal and have broken it down to see what really needs to happen in order for me to achieve it.

So I decided to start a 30 day challenge for myself pursuing my goal to:

“Create a website that makes $1000 per month promoting CPA offers and gets all its traffic from the search engines. And do that in less than 30 days from now!”

So that’s my goal in a nutshell. It’s easy to measure whether I’ve failed or succeeded.

Let’s see again what it really takes to achieve it.

$1000 per month = $33 per day

$33 per day = 1 CPA lead per day (for a Free Trial)

1 CPA lead per day = 22 unique clicks to landing page per day

22 unique clicks = 80 daily unique visitors to my website

So my goal turns into 80 daily unique visitors of targeted traffic looking for that kind of product of course. :)   How hard could it be to do that with a new website in 30 days? We’ll see..

So I’ve picked my 10 keywords:

main keyword = 2900 exact searches (for the month of August according to google’s keyword tool)

keyword phrase 1 = 260 exact searches

keyword phrase 2 = 590 exact searches

keyword phrase 3 = 320 searches

keyword phrase 4 = 720

keyword phrase 5 = 720

keyword phrase 6 = 170

keyword phrase 7 = 590

keyword phrase 8 = 480

keyword phrase 9 = 320

——————————-

For a Total of: 7070 exact searches per month.

They all seem to have very little competition and hopefully I can rank 1-3 for them all. I will be building pages for each 1-2 keywords. Do good on-page SEO and then build links..  If all the math is correct and everything goes well and I execute the plan successfully I should be getting more than 80 unique visitors per day and making 1 commission per day on average which means mission accomplished!

$1000 may sound like very little or very much money to you. It’s all relative and depends on how much money you’re making now. Considering I’m making close to zero $ now and that $1000 per month is more than 2 times the average salary in my country you can say that I’d be extremely happy to reach my goal.  No, that’s an understatement I’d be over the moon actually. :) It would allow me to not have job, cover all my expenses and still have money to spent. Plus I’ll prove to myself I can do this again and again to grow my business even more..

I know I can do this. Come on, how hard can it be? 1 sale a day.. :) But if I don’t make it in 30 days, even if it takes me 3-4 months for me it would still be worth it, so I will never stop pursuing my dream even I fail at this challenge I will have learned 1 more way not to do things.  I’ll just tweak my plan and move on. I’ll never give up on my dreams! Why should I?

That’s what I mean by being a ruthless marketer, thus the name of the blog. You have to be ruthless about it and follow your dreams with passion. No half-assed efforts allowed! You should commit to your success. If you try hard and never give up you’ll eventually figure out the way and succeed. That’s what I like to believe.

And by ruthless I don’t mean using some sneaky tactics on your competitors, you would always want to be ethical. You just have to be ruthless to laziness, limiting beliefs and mindsed that stops you from succeeding online.

I mean why are you or me not successful yet? Everyone can make money online if they do what people that are successful do. You have to learn what that is and just DO it. I believe I have gained the knowledge in the past year so I just need to execute now. I decided to read no more courses, ebooks, wsos, videos until I’ve reached my goal. I know I don’t need more lessons for now. They would only waste my time and slow down my progress. I just need to work and tap into all I’ve learned about website development, SEO, linkbuilding, chosing niches, offers, keyword research, pre-selling visitors.

And I know I can’t fail if I continue to improve and don’t stop moving forward I’ll eventually get there and I feel like I’m getting closer each day with the things I’ve done so far.  I’ve already made some sales of affiliate products so I know I can do it for sure. :) I just need to scale and build more traffic to my websites.

I like to condition my mind for success daily by watching what I consider to be the most inspirational video for beginner online marketers. And I also exercise at least 30 minutes a day while listening to my favorite music. That gets me pumped up and motivated for work. I also feel better during the day if I’ve done some exercise in the morning.

So where do I stand in my challenge:

I have to admit I’ve cheated a little bit and already done a few things. I chose a niche and registered domain a few days ago. I installed wordpress, blog, cool free theme, header. I also installed some plugins like the all-in-one seo. Put content on the homepage and did on-page SEO. I think I did a pretty good job and that my page is enticing enough for people to click through the offers I promote. It’s somewhat of a fake blog site. Basically I’m telling people: I had the same problem like you and I used this and that products to get rid of my problems and I’m extremely happy now.  It’s some of the most competitive niches online but I’ve found a nice small sub-niche that nobody else seems to be optimizing for..

I’m cloaking the affiliate links and tracking each click using the “go codes” wordpress plugin. I’ve also installed google analytics.

So now I’m ready to roll. :) I will focus on building pages and links to them for 30 days using all kinds of link building methods I know.

I already have a relevant targeted spinned pretty good and I will be using that to post wherever I can (on trusted websites with high PR only) to get relevant in-content editorial backlinks to my website which seem to be the most powerful in the eyes of google. If they are from relevant sites, even better.

And the keywords I’ve picked this time have so little competition that I believe I can easily rank for all of them. But we’ll see. You never know..  My biggest problem in previous projects was choosing very competitive keywords! Just for comparison for my main keyword that is supposed to be getting about 2900 exact searches according to adwords keyword tool there are 2 ezine articles on page 1. One is number 2 and has only 2 inbound links. The number 1 position has only 4 links to it’s page but has many links to the whole domain. Still if I can’t beat that then I’m not ready for success yet..

So today I will be doing web 2.0 stuff and social bookmarking and will do a recap in the evening to see what I have done during my first day in the challenge. My site is not even indexed by google yet so hopefully it will be by tomorrow.

I will try to post daily updates on my blog to see how am I doing, what have I done for the day, what have I achieved and things like that. I may miss some days though.  If you’d like to follow my progress you can subscribe to my rss feed or bookmark my blog. You can also follow me on twitter for updates there too.

I hope my blog inspires some of you to start their own challenge like that. (If you blog about it we can support each other and kick ourselves in the buts mutually :) ) If you are beginner and haven’t made your first sale yet or if like me haven’t made enough money yet then I urge you to set a goal like mine. Make it SMART. Break it down and figure out how you can achieve it. Make a plan of attack. Start a 30-day challenge. Tell the world about it. And follow your plan! That’s all for this post. Thanks for reading my blog!

Have a good day and good luck with your projects!

Let the challenge begin now! :)

Setting My Goals The S.M.A.R.T. Way!

September 12th, 2009 • Affiliate Marketing, Mindset, My $1000 Challenge, Personal, SEO2 Comments »

So now that you know where I’m at – from my first post..

I’m going to share with you what my goals are. Well, my ultimate goal is to own several online businesses each making millions of dollars. :)   I believe I can do that but I decided to focus on a smaller goal first..

I remember someone talking about the importance of setting S.M.A.R.T. goals.  That stands for:

Specific

Measurable

Attainable

Realistic

Timely

You can google it for more information but it’s basically self-explanatory. The goals you set should be SMART! :)

So for example a SMART goal would look like this:

Create an affiliate website making $1000 per month on autopilot through natural SE traffic in 30 days from now. And that’s actually my goal. It’s specific, it’s measurable because it’s not just a goal to make a bunch of money, it’s exactly $1000 monthly.  The goal is not to make $1000 in 30 days from now but to create a website and build enough traffic that it get’s an average of $1000 per month from then on. You get the difference right? I believe it’s attainable and realistic too. And it’s timely because there’s a deadline of 30 days.

So how do I plan to achieve it?

I will be building a website around Free Trial CPA offers.  Do SEO to bring natural targeted traffic. If I build enough traffic, do a good enough job of pre-selling people and getting them to check out the offers and choose good converting products to promote with a nice payout I should reach my goal. To see what it takes to reach my goal..

So let’s break down the numbers:

$1000 monthly = $33 daily   Most CPA Free Trial offers pay $30-$36 per lead so that means I need to bring just 1 lead a day!

$33 daily = 1 lead per day   So let’s say I sent targeted traffic and choose a good product that converts well at 4,5%.  That’s not uncommon % for free trial CPA offers. So that means for every 100 clicks I will get 4,5 sales and that means I will get 1 sale on average for every 22 unique visitors I send to that page (assuming they are targeted and interested in that type of offer) So..

1 lead per day = 22 hops per day (unique clicks from my site to the offer)

Soo now you (like me) probably  start to see how attainable my goal is! :) How hard could it be to send 22 clicks to an offer a day. :) Let’s say about 30% of the unique visitors that get to my website actually click to go check out the offer so that means I need 73 uniques to my website to send 22 clicks to the offer. So

22 hops per day = 73 unique visitors (to my website) per day

So $1000 monthly = 73 unique visitors a day (if i’ve guessed the other variables right :P )

Let’s say it’s 80 uniques to round it up.

80 uniques per day = 2400 unique per month right?

They say #1 ranking in google gets on average about 50% of the traffic for that keyword I think. So if I am number one for a keyword that’s targeted and it’s getting 5000 searches a month then that’s 2500 uniques to my website and mission accomplished. But instead of focusing on 1 keyword with 5000 searches why not choose 10 long tail keywords getting only 500 searches first? In most cases they will be much easier to rank for.

That’s what has been my biggest mistake in my previous online projects I was focusing on very competitive keywords and when I’m not getting any traffic and sales I get discouraged and lose interested in working on the project. The long tail keywords are easier to rank and usually convert better so I now believe its best to start picking up the low hanging fruit first with your websites and then after you’re getting sales reinvest the profits to optimize for other keywords, maybe more competitive.

So what I’ve done using my 2 favorite keyword research tools (adwords keyword tool and market samurai ) is I found 10 keywords ranging from 2900-150 exact monthly searches according to adwords keyword tool that have very low competition according to market samurai and a total of 7000 exact searches. My favorite feature of Market Samurai is the SEO competition analysis module because it shows you exactly how well the top 10 websites are optimized for a particular keyword.

I hear this kind of advice all the time:” look for keywords with under 30 thousand search results in google for your keyword in quotes” and I think that’s complete crap. You shouldn’t care at all about that number. Although it could be some kind of indicator where this keyword is easy to rank for what you really should care about is the top 10 sites how well are they doing and even mostly the top 3 because they are getting the majority of the traffic.

Market Samurai makes it easy to analyze the competition but if you don’t have it you can also use the SEOBook firefox plugin, SEO Quake plugin, yahoo site explorer, free online backlink checkers. Things I look for are: number of backlinks, quality, anchor text of links and if they have their on-page optimization right like keyword in domain url, title.. also I take a look at the PR and Domain Age. And use common sense to decide whether you believe you can do a better job than the competition is doing for a particular keyword.  That’s how I choose keywords.

I believe there are thousands of niches and million of keywords that wait to be dominated for and make profits either through adsense sites or CPA and everyone can find something to build a site around and do SEO and make money. I believe I’ve found some really nice keywords with very small competition in a very competitive market. They may be getting only 500-1000 searches but combined get over 7000 which if all goes well according to plan should be enough to reach my goal of $1000 a month.

The thing is markets such as weight loss are so big you can always find some nice keywords. The trick is not to focus on the same keywords everybody else does like weight loss or how to lose weight. People are searching for so many different things related to losing weight that are much less competitive. You have to think wide not deep. Think of what other stuff could they be searching for. I like to look at the related keywords google shows at the bottom half on their adwords keyword tool, pick some of them and put them in the keyword tool to research them. You can find some interesting keywords that way..

So that’s about it for this post. I urge you to figure out what is it that you want to do. Create a goal, make it S.M.A.R.T. Break it down to see really what it takes to achieve it. Make a plan and follow it, tweak it until you reach your goal! Thanks for reading my blog!

I wish you all the best in your businesses!

p.s. Be on the lookout for my next post tomorrow when will be the the official start of my $1000 challenge. :)

First Post! What’s My Story?

September 12th, 2009 • PersonalNo Comments »

Hi everyone and welcome to my first blog post,

you’re probably wondering who am I and what’s my story so let me tell you

My Story:

I’m currently a student looking to start a successful online busines.  I  started looking around for ways to make money online about a year and a half ago. I believe I’ve had the typical story that most people starting in internet marketing have..  I’ve bought many different courses, WSOs, read blogs and forums etc. I’ve learned a lot about many aspects of internet marketing and different ways to make money online.  So far I’ve had very little results though. That’s because for the most part I’ve been trying to figure out how can I make money, I’ve been just trying stuff, learning, not taking much action which is my main problem. Everytime I took action I got results though. So from the small amount of action I’ve taken so far I’ve generated a total of about $400 in affiliate commissions online so far. Most of it during the past few months. But I’ve spent more than that on courses, wsos and services for sure.  I’m currently making an occasional commission once in a while… What’s better than the $400 I’ve made is that I’ve learned a lot from my mistakes and small successes.  :)

The Purpose Of This Blog:

I look at my blog as a way to organize my thoughts and intentions. To document and track my progress and thus keep myself on track with my goals. I want to share my intentions and experiences with the world. And by blogging about it I want to commit to everyone reading my blog that I’ll do whatever it takes to become successful online.  And If I don’t follow through with my plans people will know (assuming someone reads my blog) and I’ll feel bad.  That way I have one more incentive to work even harder. :) Hopefully my posts will be valuable to you also whether you’re a beginner,  a struggling marketer or experienced internet marketer or even if you are not into internet marketing at all.

A lot of internet marketers have blogs.  All the gurus have “blogs” where they are active just before their launches. I don’t like the way they look at their blog just as a tool to get more money from you.  Not all blogs are like that of course, there are people who really give great content.

I decided to create my blog now while I’m just at the starting line so to say.  I will be providing you with updates on what I’m doing, what my plans and goals are, how am I doing with my goals, am I on track or not, how much money I’m currently making, what new things I’m trying out, whether they work or not for me and things like that. I think some people may be interested in following my progress or even just curious whether I will succeed in building an online business or fail and give up.. :)   Just so you know from the beginning I have no intention to give up no matter what! Because I know people are making money online and I can, too.  If I’m not that just means I’m not doing the right things that people who are successful do. I just need to learn and DO these things! I know as long as I keep learning and improving what I do I can’t fail. Each failure gets me closer to my goal! I’ll never give up! I’m still 21 so I have plenty of time to fail! :)

Hopefully you too will get value from reading my blog! I’ll try to provide great valuable information so that you have a reason to keep coming back and read what I have to say to you. :) I only want to ask you if you find something on my blog valuable you help it spread out by sharing it with your friends, twitter followers and/or social bookmarking it so that you can help me grow my followers. Fair enough right?

I hope through my blog you learn anything that helps you in some way and that I learn something from you, too.  I’m sure I will benefit from the whole experience.

That’s all for this post, make sure you read my next post where I will be sharing with you my goals and intentions for my business.
